Sustainable Watchmaking

Breitling’s new Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown is a masterpiece made in cooperation with Outerknown, a company committed to caring for the environment that manufactures sustainable clothing. The intervention on the watch is a beautiful strap entirely made of Econyl thread, an innovative material created with nylon scraps extracted from fishing nets and other materials from the oceans and clean points of the world. Both Breitling and Outerknown collaborate with the Ocean Conservancy with the intention of making the world aware of the problem of garbage in the seas and oceans, and act accordingly to clean it up. In this context, it is understandable that the co-founder of Outerknown is surfing icon Kelly Slater, a great connoisseur of the marine world. Hence his concern for the health of the seas and oceans. Breitling’s Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown is a dazzling wristwatch. It has a bold style, which can be seen in its black case, its blue dial and its Nato strap woven with Econyl blue thread. The bluish tones of the piece, especially the navy blue taffeta of the strap, reflect the loving bond with the oceans and the blue planet; an obsessive Outerknown fight. “We are very happy to have the opportunity to cooperate with Kelly Slater, member of our Surfing Squad and co-founder of Outerknown. Likewise, the introduction of the Econyl thread strap is another important step in our commitment to sustainability. We look forward to introducing other great watches equipped with these straps in the future, ”said Georges Kern, Breitling CEO. “As strange as it sounds, the beach is my office, so every day I deal with pollution. I will do everything in my power to help keep the oceans and beaches clean, and I am thrilled with how Breitling, with the Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown, is going to help raise awareness of the problem and demonstrate how people can help too.” Kelly Slater commented. Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown, the guardian of the oceans chronograph has a black stainless steel case with a DLC coating. The Outerknown logo is engraved on its back.

COSC certified, the stopwatch incorporates a unidirectional ceramic bezel that resists shocks and scratches. A central luminescent point stands out at twelve o’clock, a detail that makes it the best companion for diving. Also, its water resistance is up to 20 bar, which is equivalent to 200 meters or 660 feet. A nice touch is the blue Super LumiNova coating on the dot and hour and minute hands. Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown has a Breitling caliber 13 mechanical chronograph movement. On the blue dial you can see the SuperOcean inscription in a matt gray tone, perfectly combined with numbers and small details in white. The dials have white touches and black nickel-plated indexes. The famous B in the Breitling logo also wears a black nickel-plated finish.
